This weekend, we had the distinct pleasure of participating in th e Louisiana Restaurant Association trade show. Highlighting our seminars and demonstrations this weekend, was our presentation on how CCTV is now going high definition. For our demonstrations, we connected a IQinVision 3.1 Mega-Pixel HD IP CCTV camera to a PC-Witness Pro V/RT DVR via a local network. The end result was staggering...and to no surprise...the crowd was amazed with the clarity of the picture! Now able to deliver over 4 times the picture of even the highest-end CCTV camera, and two times the clarity of a 1080p hi-definition TV, mega-pixel CCTV cameras are breaking the mold when it comes to video surveillance. Unlike any other CCTV camera, mega-pixel cameras can deliver a wide angle view, but can identify a license plate across the street. The resolution is so incredibly high, that suspects can now be identified via blemishes or scars on their skin. Unlike traditional high-resolution CCTV cameras, videos and snapshots provided by mega-pixel IP CCTV cameras can be extensively enlarged before pixelazation becomes a problem. Although the true introduction of mega-pixel IP CCTV cameras happened some years ago, only now are we finding them to be practical as frame-rates have increased, while prices have decreased. Now, with the advent of NVR/ DVR hybrid digital recorders, such as the PC-Witness Pro series DVRs, mega-pixel IP CCTV cameras can be “meshed” with traditional analog CCTV cameras into a single environment whereby all cameras can be viewed and recorded on a one system. Perhaps even more importantly is that the PC-Witness Pro can record mega-pixel cameras in their native resolution. As a side note, I wish to personally express my sincerest gratitude to the folks at IQinVision for sending us a free loaner for our demonstrations. We found the information provided by their staff members to be invaluable, and their commitment to customer service to be well above par. You can expect to hear more about IQinVision and Mega-Pixel CCTV cameras in an upcoming article here at Aboutcctv.com. FYI - Below is a snapshot taken from a video from the IQinVision IQ703 3.1Mega-Pixel CCTV camera that we demo'd at the LRA show this weekend. We want to hear your comments on this camera... so please be sure to leave a few freindly words below.
