analog cameras recording t 10 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
Question: Wife says I have to use the anaolg equipment up before I can buy new digital equipment. Most of what I have is 5 years old, but high quality.
I have analog cameras I would like to run through a Robot Color Multiplexer (Robot #: MV96P, color duplex multiplexer, NTSC). Can I take ouput to DVR and LAN? If so, will there be a substantial loss of quality?
I want LAN access to provide off-site monitoring over net.
Thank you!
Scott

Since practically all DVRs have multiplexer functionality built in, if you were to purchase a DVR you wouldn't need to use your Robot Multiplexer at all; your cameras would run directly into the DVR itself. In other words, you could conceivably run the multiplexer into the DVR, but there isn't really a reason why you would need to. As for LAN, from what I can tell there is no LAN port on this multiplexer, meaning you cannot view it online.

The good news, though, is that if you were to upgrade you'd probably only need to swap out the multiplexer and VCR, the cameras, cable, etc should all be compatible with a new DVR. If you were interested in going digital, a cutting-edge 16 camera DVR with video quality comparable to what you have there now would only run you around $2,000.
