Software install 2 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
I have a 4ch DVR that came with a CD of software to install. There are four items on the CD. I am wondering what is what, what gets installed where, etc..

Items on the CD:
local
viewer
remote
watermark

Thanks in advance.

I'm guessing that given the file names, you have a PC-based DVR. Without knowing the make & model of your DVR, I cannot say for sure, but "local" is probably the main DVR application that goes on the PC that your cameras connect to. If this is correct, it need not be installed anywhere else.

"Viewer" may be a stand-alone video player for playback of any video that was exported off the main DVR.

"Remote" may be the application used to remotely monitor the cameras via a network or the Internet. Before loading this on another PC, I would recommend that you simply open Internet Explorer and go to the IP address of the DVR. Your DVR may auto-load the correct application for you to remotely monitor.

"Watermark" may be a utility that authenticates the recorded video as not being tampered with.

Thank you for the reply.

After assigning a static IP address to the DVR I am able to get a ping reply from that address. I then use IE to browse to the IP address and I am asked to allow pop-ups, which I do. The I was asked to install a T.O.M. ActiveX add-in, which I did as well. I then rebooted the PC and then tried to reconnect to the IP from within IE. The attached document shows the screens that I then receive. I think I am just about there, but am still getting nothing through IE.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Here are those screen shots

I am having issues trying to upload the image.

I do not see any mfg stickers or lables on this system and have no idea who made it. The company that I am contracting for cannot remmeber from who it was purchased....

Any ideas how to find out who the MFG may be on this unit?

Thanks.

Please note that the photos must be smaller than 50kb. You may need to resize them before uploading.

We have found some information as to whom the product was purchased from. Unfortunatley the company 'CCTV Specialty' doesn't seem to be in business any longer.

The system seems to be running OK as a stand alone unit, however I am having issues with connecting to it via the Intranet. The IP does reply though.

How can I go about getting support for this product. Without a Model number it will be difficult for you to know what type of system I am using.

Would a photo of the fron of the unit help?

Thanks.
