HDD configuration 2 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
I am setting up a 4CH DVR system that has an embedded 160GB Maxtor drive. After system initialization the device states that the HDD configuration info has changed. After selecting to accept the change and remove all previous data on the drive I get a failure stating "cannot find hard drive" and the system shuts down.

I have opened the unit and verified that the hdd IDE and power cables are seated properly.

During the initialization I do see the one hooked up camera displaying in one of the four screens of the default quad view. The the system goes into the HDD check and subsequently shuts down.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

-Adam

Hello Adam,

Different DVRs may be designed to work only with certain make & models of hard drives. You may need to contact the manufacturer to receive a list of approved HDs. However... my bet is going to be the jumper setting on the HD. Is your HD set to be a master?

BTW - what make/ model of DVR do you have, and where did you purchase it from?

Thanks for the quick reply. It turned out to be the jumper setting. That was the first thing I checked after posting my question. The system has now recognized the hdd and I am currently running through the configuration settings.

As far as the make and model, I am not quite sure. I took over this installation project from someone who purchased the products but never impemented the system. There is no mfg label or anything just a small white sticker located on the flip-down front door, which I would guess is either the Model# or Serial# (BA10BEAU0615).

The manual and CD that came with the product is very generic and has no company name that I can see. From the paperwork the company has on this purchase, I believe it came from a cctvspecialty.com, as that is where the email with the tracking info came from. From my research on-line I do not see a cctvspecialty.com as being active.......

Thanks agian,

-Adam
