Remote monitoring 1 Year, 8 Months ago Karma: 0
I am looking at your 1304net DVR system. I am a newbee and dont understand fully the Static or Dynamic IP address issues. My remote monitoring is going to be done through the home network and not through the internet. How easy is it to long on to the DRV from a remote computer ? I have a system here from Q-see and I followed all the directions for log on but it does not work. They offered no help. Your site is great we hope to buy allot.

I'm sorry to hear about that Q-See, but I'm glad to hear you'll soon be onboard with us!

As for the IP addresses, the 1304SATA will work with either a static or a dynamic IP address, however a static (which is fixed and never changes) is much more practical than a dynamic (which your internet service provider may change from day to day). Realistically, though, you could get away with either one over your local area connection since those internal IP addresses are issued by your router, not your ISP.

Once you purchase your 1304SATA you're covered for lifetime tech support, so we can give you instructions via email on how to configure your router to allow you to view your cameras online. If you're unfamiliar with networking or have never set up a router before it can be a little difficult, though, so we also offer a service through our sister website techstring.com whereby we can remote into your network from our office and configure your router for you. The cost for the remote configuration is $75.

If you have any other questions you may call me directly at 800.291.0523 ext 134, or you can post in this thread again and I'll see it when I check the forums.

Do you have instructions I can preview to set up monitoring. I would like to learn before I buy. I understand there is a 1 second delay in the picture. What is the refrsh rate of the picture during remote monitoring.

By instructions to set up monitoring, you mean the remote viewing via internet, correct? If so, you can see the how-to at the following link:
http://www.surveillancehelp.com/upload/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=122

The delay you see while watching remotely and the refresh rate both depend heavily on the framerate and resolution the DVR is recording at , and also on the download and upload speeds of the connection at the site of the DVR and at the site of the PC you're watching it on, so it's extremely difficult to give you an exact answer to your question. Generally speaking, if you were using a 1304NET at its lowest resolution setting and had it running at 30 frames per second, even worst case scenario you can reasonably expect to see 5-7 frames per second, however I would again like to emphasize that there are a huge number of factors in play and it's impossible to guarantee any specific number without testing.
